Dear colleagues,

I am taking the liberty to invite you for the 37th Annual Meeting of the European Radiation Research Society which will be held in the capital city of Prague, Czech Republic, at the end of August.

The place of the conference is one of the most beautiful European cities. You have certainly heard about its historic Old Town, Charles Bridge, historic residence of Czech kings Hradčany, Saint Vitus Cathedral and many further historic objects.

The Society for Radiobiology and Crisis Planning of the J. E. Purkyne Czech Medical Society has already been charged for the third time by the ERRS with organizing this action – for the first time in 1967 and for the second time in 1985. We believe that you will enjoy your stay in Prague the same as all the scientists participating in the preceding meetings.

The scientific program of the conference will be held in the modern hotel Diplomat (www.diplomathotel.cz), which is easy to reach from the airport, railway station and all the access superhighways. The accommodation will also be provided in this hotel. The way from the hotel to the centre of the city takes about 10 min by underground.

The co-organizer of the conference is the Biophysical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno and Society of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics of the J. E. Purkyne Czech Medical Society.

The conference will be held under the patronage of:

  • JUDr. Vojtech Filip, vice-chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament
  • Prof. RNDr. Václav Hampl, DrSc., rector of Charles University in Prague
  • Prof. Ing. Vaclav Havlicek, CSc., rector of Czech Technical University In Prague
  • Prof. PhDr.Václav Bůžek, CSc., rector of University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice
  • MUDr. Pavel Bém, major of the capital city of Prague.

The honorary chairman of the conference is Prof. Dr.h.c. Zdeněk Dientstbier, MD., D.Sc., who was the president of the ERRS (ESRB) in 1971-1972.

The main topics of the scientific program established by the Scientific Committee are as follows:

  • Radiation Physics
  • Radiation Chemistry
  • DNA repair
  • Molecular targets for radio-enhancement, radiation sensitivity
  • Genetic instability, bystander effect and radio-adaptation
  • Stem cells
  • Radiation carcinogenesis
  • Biological dosimetry
  • Radiation protection, accidents and consequence management
  • Pharmacological modulation of radiation damage
  • Radiotherapy
  • Normal tissue damage
  • Non-ionizing radiation (experimental)
  • Non-ionizing radiation (clinical)
  • Radioecology

The conference will also include rich social activities:

Within the next few days, forms will be available at this site, which can be used to submit your application for the participation in the 37th Annual Meeting including accommodation.

We are looking forward very much to see you in Prague this August.
